Jeanette Sims has joined University of North Carolina at Charlotte as director of community affairs. Sims will serve as a link between the university and the community, campus programs that address community issues and developing relationships with key local constituencies and organizations. She replaces Ashley Oster, who held the position from 2007 and recently relocated to Seattle. Before joining University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Sims was the interim conference director for the N.C. Governor's Conference for Women. She also worked with The Lee Institute as the Charlotte regional director for the American Leadership Forum.

Johan Enslin, chief technology officer at Petra Solar, has been named director of the Energy Production and Infrastructure Center at University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His appointment is effective August 1, 2011. Enslin succeeds Steve Patterson, who will return to his role as SPX distinguished professor in mechanical engineering at UNCC.
