Koninklijke FrieslandCampina N.V. Expands Production Capacity at Leeuwarden Facility
Sep 10 14
Koninklijke FrieslandCampina N.V. announced the expansion of its production capacity at its facility in Leeuwarden, Friesland. With this expansion FrieslandCampina anticipates two developments. On the one hand the demand for milk products is growing, in particular in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. On the other hand there is the expected growth of the volume of supplied milk after the abolishment of the milk quota in 2015. The foundation stone for the 44 metres high building was laid mid-March and this week a start was made with hoisting in the 31 large stainless steel storage tanks. The first phase of the expansion will be completed by the end of 2015 or the beginning of 2016. The expansion will be fully operational in the year 2017. This expansion enables FrieslandCampina in Leeuwarden to grow further. The investments amounted to EUR 110 million. EUR 48 million were already invested before in the expansion of the processing capacity.
