Sensory Networks, Inc.'s DPI Software Pushes Performance to 160Gbps on Intel Platform

Sensory Networks, Inc. announced that their HyperScan(TM) library has delivered DPI throughput of 160Gbps with linear scalability. This was based on an intensive benchmark of HyperScan on a dual-socket platform (8-core, 16 threads per socket) using the new Intel(R) Xeon(R) processor E5-2600 family and Intel(R) C604 chipset, scanning against a tier-1 commercial IPS signature set. HyperScan fully scales across Intel(R) architecture, extending from the Intel(R) Atom(TM) processor to the highest performing Intel(R) Xeon(R) processor. Chart 2 shows HyperScan performance when benchmarked using HTTP traffic running on a dual-socket (8-core, 16 threads per socket) future Intel(R) Xeon(R) processor E5-2600 family based platform and scanning against a tier-1 IPS signature set. The software library delivers linearly scaling DPI throughput from 12Gbps on a single thread up to 160Gbps on 32 threads. Intel(R) architecture specific optimizations that include SIMD and Intel(R) Hyper-threading Technology ensure a high level of performance per core and thread count.

Sensory Networks, Inc. announced the availability of their new Chimera pattern matching software. This library provides 100% support for the regular expression constructs provided by the PCRE software library and is capable of matching groups of patterns simultaneously at more than 100Gbps on multi-core CPU architectures. Chimera is ideal for applications where a large and varied collection of regular expressions is being used to scan blocks of data at high speed. Applications requiring this type of intensive scanning and inspection functionality include anti-spam, web filtering, email security and many parsing applications associated with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems. Chimera takes pattern matching to a new level, incorporating a range of features previously difficult to support in high-performance applications. This includes support for back-references, sub-expression capturing and start-of-match, all of which enable greater content scanning intelligence and control over management of data. Also, new proprietary pre-filtering techniques, as well as innovative scanning algorithms, allow Chimera to deliver scanning throughput that is many orders of magnitude superior to more conventional approaches involving sequential regular expression scans, or pre-filtering techniques that rely on basic string matchers to 'guard' a collection of regular expressions. Chimera is provided under a simple licensing framework that is considerably more cost-effective compared to alternative solutions. The product has a straightforward, easy to use API and is supplied with a benchmarking tool, documentation, and the necessary technical assistance to ensure a quick and easy integration.
