3M Cogent has announced the integration of its MiY biometric access control readers with Schneider Electric's Andover Continuum integrated security and building management solutions. 3M Cogent MiY readers are now integrated with Andover Continuum CyberStation 1.91 or greater. The first complete integration of the MiY solution for user and credential management into a third party software, leveraging MiY's framework, provides biometric capture and cardholder enrollment directly from any CyberStation or using any 3M MiY reader on the network. The 3M Cogent MiY product portfolio was designed to provide integrators with a comprehensive yet easy-to-develop framework, shortening the product development time and creating solutions for end users. The MiY product line provides single to multi-factor access control and is FIPS 201 certified. This collaboration allows organizations to leverage fingerprint biometrics to authenticate users for logical access to workstations. Entrust is embedding 3M(TM) Cogent fingerprint capture and verification technology, which will be available to both new and current Entrust IdentityGuard customers who subscribe to software maintenance support services. 3M Cogent, Inc. Announces Improvision NPS2 High-Speed Duplex Scanner

3M Cogent, Inc. announced that the improvision NPS2, the company's new high-speed duplex scanner, tested in full compliance and received certification from the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System, Image Quality Standard Appendix F specification. Combined with the 3M CAFIS Scanning Software, the Improvision NPS2 is FBI IAFIS IQS Appendix F certified at 500 and 1,000 ppi. Currently, the Improvision NPS2 is the only FBI-certified scanner able to simultaneously scan both sides of a document at 1,000 ppi. Equipped with an integrated automatic document feeder, 3M Cogent's Improvision NPS2 features fast image processing and can scan up to 1,000 cards per hour. To avoid card damage during the scanning process, the scanner features a straight paper path with the ability to convert palm prints, photos, and text documents. The Improvision NPS2 is ideal for scanning large amounts of biometric cards, such as backlogs, in a restricted amount of time.
