The Connecticut Business & Industry Association Announce Management Changes

The Connecticut Business & Industry Association announced that John Rathgeber, the organization's president and chief executive officer since 2006, will retire in early 2015. Joe Brennan, CBIA's senior vice president for public policy, will succeed Rathgeber on January 1, 2015. Brennan joined CBIA in 1988 as staff attorney, assuming responsibility in 2006 for the organization's overall public policy operations including its legislative, regulatory, communications, research, and public affairs activities. He has served on numerous legislative task forces and commissions on economic and tax policies. He also serves on several boards and councils.

Connecticut Business And Industry Association, Inc. tapped Donald R. Droppo Jr., president and chief executive of Curtis Packaging in Sandy Hook, as chairman of its board of directors. CBIA also voted in two new vice chairpeople: James P. Torgerson, president and chief executive of UIL Holdings, the parent company of United Illuminating, and Donna R. Galluzzo, president and chief executive of HMS Healthcare Management Solutions Inc., who is new to the association's board this year. Droppo, who along with the vice chairs was voted in for a one-year term, succeeds former board chairman Thomas Santa, chief executive of Bridgeport's Santa Energy.

Connecticut Business And Industry Association, Inc. has elected 13 new members to its board of directors. Representing a broad cross section of Connecticut's business community, the incoming directors begin serving their four-year terms at the board's December 6 meeting. The new members of CBIA's board of directors are: John R. Ciulla, executive vice president, Webster Bank, Stamford; Nancy M. Davis, vice president & chief information officer, United Technologies Corp., Hartford; Christian L. DiPentima, president, Pegasus Manufacturing Inc., Middletown; Donna R. Galluzzo, Ph.D, president & CEO, HMS Healthcare Management Solutions Inc., Wallingford; E. Clayton Gengras, III, president, Gengras Motor Cars Inc., East Hartford; Jason M. Howey, president, Okay Industries Inc., New Britain; Keith Hubert, office managing partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Hartford; William P. Lennon, vice president, Engineering & Design Programs, Electric Boat Corp., Groton; Stephen L. Lewis, president and CEO, Thomaston Savings Bank, Thomaston; Ed Rodriguez, president, Penmar Industries Inc., Norwalk; Michael J. Soltis, managing partner, Jackson Lewis LLP, Stamford; Johnna G. Torsone, executive vice president and chief human resources officer, Pitney Bowes, Stamford; and Joseph R. Voelker, vice president human resources, Stanley Black & Decker, New Britain. The board will elect a new chair on December 6 to succeed Thomas S. Santa, president and CEO of Santa Energy Corp. in Bridgeport. Santa will remain on the board as immediate past chair.
