Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation Key Developments

JAL to Order Up to 59 Jets from Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation and Embraer

Japan Airlines announced that it would order up to 59 regional jets from a unit of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Brazilian plan maker Embraer, as it looks to retire some of its gas-guzzling domestic fleet. The airline did not release financial details, but Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) earlier said the 32-plane order would total about $1.5 billion at list prices. JAL said it expected to take delivery of the Mitsubishi aircraft in 2021, while the Embraer 170 and 190 aircraft would start being delivered in 2015.

Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation to Supply 40 Units of MRJ to Eastern Air Lines

Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation announced that it has received an order for 40 units of the Mitsubishi Regional Jet from U.S. carrier Eastern Air Lines, with deliveries slated to start in 2019. Eastern Air Lines, which halted operations in 1991 due to a business slump, is now preparing to relaunch services. Using Miami International Airport as its hub, the airline plans to start offering flights to and from destinations mainly in Latin America in 2015. The MRJ, now being developed, will be the first Japanese-developed small passenger jet.
