Mamadou-Abou Sarr Joins Northern Trust Asset Management as Global Head of Environmental Social and Governance Investing

Mamadou-Abou Sarr has been named global head of environmental social and governance investing at Northern Trust Asset Management. According to the firm, this is a newly created role designed to meet increasing demand for responsible investing strategies in markets worldwide. As global head of ESG-Asset Management, Sarr will lead ESG innovation and product development across Northern Trust's array of asset class capabilities. He will focus on expanding into new opportunities for ESG growth in the global institutional and wealth management markets. Based in Abu-Dhabi, Sarr will report to Wayne Bowers, head of asset management-EMEA & APAC, and will work closely with the global equity strategist team, providing thought leadership and comprehensive investment solutions across the spectrum of equity, including Northern Trust's factor-based engineered equity solutions. He will also collaborate with Multi-Manager Investments on outsourced chief investment officer solutions that include ESG considerations. Sarr has more than ten years of investment experience, including roles at HSBC Global Asset Management, Morgan Stanley Investment Management and other firms prior to Northern Trust.

Northern Trust Asset Management Appoints Benze Lam as Head of Greater China Region

Northern Trust Asset Management has appointed Benze Lam as head of the Greater China region. In this newly created role, Lam will lead a team of relationship and sales experts dedicated to supporting Northern Trust Asset Management's clients across Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. He will have a key role in asset management business strategy across Asia-Pacific and in particular, Greater China. He will be based in Hong Kong and report to Bo Kratz, head of Asia-Pacific at Northern Trust Asset Management. Lam has over 13 years of experience working with institutional investors in Asia-Pacific. Most recently, he was head of sales for China offshore at UBS Global Asset Management, where he drove sales activity, focused on sovereign wealth investors and Qualified Domestic Institutional Investors in China.

Northern Trust Asset Management Strengthens Leadership Team for Funds and Institutional Clients

Northern Trust Asset Management announced two leadership appointments to strengthen its focus on strategic priorities and increase alignment of investment sales and servicing activities around key growth channels. Shundrawn A. Thomas, who has led the successful launch of the FlexShares exchange-traded fund (ETF) business over the past three years, will expand his responsibilities to oversee all fund activities, including Northern Funds, Northern Institutional Funds and financial intermediary distribution. Jason J. Tyler, currently Northern Trust's Head of Corporate Strategy and Market Development, will join the Asset Management business as Head of Client Solutions, with oversight of institutional sales, client relationship management and advisory services, including the Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) practice. Thomas, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of FlexShares, will focus on distribution of ETFs and mutual funds through financial advisors and other intermediary channels. He has 20 years of industry experience and has led FlexShares since 2011, when the ETF business was formed and launched its first funds. Tyler has been Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Strategy since joining Northern Trust in 2011. Previously, he was a manager in corporate planning at Bank One/American National Bank in Chicago.
