MTE Corporation Key Developments

MTE Corporation Introduces dV Sentry Motor Protection Filter

MTE Corporation announced the introduction of its new dV Sentry(TM) motor protection filter. Using a dV/dt filter helps protect AC motors from the destructive effects of long lead voltages that can damage variable frequency drives (VFDs), cables, and motors. The 380V to 600V dV Sentry is the first dV/dt filter on the market to offer comprehensive three-in-one protection for VFDs and motors against peak voltage, high rise times and now, common mode voltage reduction. The dV Sentry is well suited for the demands of industrial equipment including HVAC, water/wastewater and irrigation. In the past, traditional dV/dt filters only protected against power distortion created over long lead voltage lengths between VFDs and motors. Now, MTE's patented Triple Defense Core technology, protection against long lead power distortion, voltage spikes and common mode voltage can be achieved in one system. Through MTE's unique design, the dV Sentry has been proven to reduce common mode voltage by over 50%. Designed for operations in harsh environments, the dV Sentry operates from -40degC to 60degC. The dV Sentry features a small compact design as well as lighter weight, facilitating easier installation. Operating at a low noise level (<65 db), the dV Sentry can work in virtually any environment. Moreover, the dV Sentry offers a much lower watts loss compared to any other dV/dt filters on the market. Low watts loss (heat) helps ensure longer life and protection for equipment around the filter. Available in NEMA1/2 and NEMA 3R configurations, the new dV Sentry is backed by a 3-year warranty and is UL and cUL Listed.

MTE Corporation Expands the Matrix(R) AP Product Family With High Current Harmonic Filters

MTE Corporation announced the extension of the Matrix AP Harmonic Filter product line. Joining the Matrix AP family of 480V, 60Hz offerings, are larger 1600A, 2000A, and 2300A harmonic filters. Large Induction Furnaces, Silicon-Controlled Rectifier (SCR) Loads, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and other electrical equipment can introduce harmful harmonics into neighboring equipment and onto the electrical grid system, resulting in poor power quality, reduced energy efficiencies and potential penalties from utility companies. Operating at over 99% efficiency, MTE's Matrix AP harmonic filters address the demand for improved power quality, providing users with the most efficient harmonic mitigation available in a passive filter. Incorporating MTE's patented Adaptive Passive technology, the Matrix AP harmonic filters are able to quickly adapt their impedance in response to changing electrical loads. As with all Matrix AP models, the new high current (1600A, 2000A, and 2300A) filters are available in open panel, have a wide operating temperature range of -40degC to 50degC, and are UL and cUL Listed. In addition the Matrix AP family offers a 3-year warranty.

MTE Introduces Harmonic Filters and Options to Matrix(R) AP Product Family

MTE Corporation announced its new 600V, 60Hz and 690V, 50Hz harmonic filter models that are available from 6 Amps to 786 Amps. Joining the Matrix AP family of 480V, 60Hz and 400V, 50Hz offerings, this latest addition completes the Matrix AP product line, providing best-of-breed mitigation solutions and options to damaging and costly harmonics. Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSs), pumps, transformers, motors and other electrical equipment can introduce harmful harmonics into neighboring equipment and onto the electrical grid system, resulting in poor power quality, reduced energy efficiencies and potential penalties from utility companies. Compared to other passive filter designs that work for 100% loads, the Matrix AP maintains filtering performance over a wider load, including mitigating harmonic distortion at low loads. This unique capability gives the Matrix AP family the distinction of being the most technically advanced passive filters on the market. As with all Matrix AP models, the new 600V and 690V filters are available with a wide operating temperature range of -40degC to 50degC. Ideal for use on the power input of VFDs and other 6-pulse drives, the Matrix AP filters help customers meet IEEE-519 requirements for harmonic distortion, regardless of power load. In addition, the new models are compatible with generator systems and use up to 83% fewer capacitors than previous generation Matrix filters. Moreover, MTE has eliminated the usage of resistors, resulting in less heat generation, removing the need for fans. The Matrix AP line also features a host of capacitor contactor options to meet specific power applications, including disconnection of the filter capacitor bank, adjustable pick-up and drop-out and filter bypass. The 600V and 690V Matrix AP harmonic filters are available now in open panel. In addition, the 600V is also available in NEMA 1/2 and NEMA 3R configurations. UL and cUL Listed, the Matrix AP family offers a 3-year warranty.
