Transaction Capital Limited announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first half year ended March 31, 2014. For the period, the company reported net interest income of ZAR 395 million against ZAR 330 million a year ago. Profit before tax was ZAR 192 million against GBP 156 million a year ago. Transaction Capital Mulls Acquisitions Of SME Financiers

Transaction Capital Limited (JSE:TCP) plans to spend as much as JAR 750 million on acquisitions. "We want to become dominant" in the financing of small businesses by buying some niche players, Chief Executive David Hurwitz said this week, without naming the companies. The cash was available "for the sole purpose of acquisitions in our lending and services divisions", he said. Transaction Capital might also expand its debt collection unit, MBD Credit Solutions, and draw on experience in asset-backed finance to make acquisitions in insurance services, Hurwitz said.
