Panopto, Inc. announced the release of panopto 4.2. Features of the release include: HDV camcorder support: panopto now supports plug-and-play video recording and webcasting with HDV camcorders. Along with existing support for webcams, DV and analog camcorders, HDMI capture cards, and VGA devices, panopto extends its market lead in consumer and professional recording device support; Remote Recorder control panel: the new control panel allows administrators to manage their entire recording infrastructure from any web browser, selecting recording devices, specifying video and audio sources, and getting real-time previews from all their devices; Instant video publishing: panopto now uploads video in the background during recording and webcasting, instantly publishing sessions upon completion into the panopto video content management system; New playback capabilities: recordings that consist of multiple video streams can now be viewed in a tiled layout with all streams visible at the same time, side-by-side, on any device.; Improved search relevance and performance: a new relevance algorithm and improved search indexing make Panopto's video search engine fasterand more accurate. Other enhancements in Panopto 4.2 include the ability to import camtasia videos into the panopto video content management system, LMS single sign-on within the panopto iPhone app, improvements to video playback performance, and updates to Panopto's developer APIs.

Panopto, Inc. introduced a range of new functionality for education and corporate customers. Highlights of the Panopto 4.1 release include: A new iOS app that allows users to view, search, and record Panopto media on iPhones and iPads; Expanded learning management system (LMS) integration through support for Basic LTI; The ability for students to record and submit Panopto media for class assignments; Active Directory integration with cloud-hosted installations of Panopto; Screen capture support on multi-monitor systems; New management tools for usage monitoring and activity logging. One of the most anticipated features in Panopto 4.1 is the new iOS app, which will soon be available in the iTunes App store. The app brings video search, improved viewing, note taking, and recording to the mobile platform. Users will be able to capture and share content on the fly with their iPhones and iPads, or use them as a video source for more complex presentations that include slides, screen capture, and additional video streams. Users will also be able to take notes on their iOS device and embed them directly into a presentation. In the 4.1 release, Panopto is able to integrate with a wider range of learning management systems, thanks to support for Basic LTI. Basic LTI is an emerging industry standard for LMS interoperability. It allows users of compliant systems, such as Instructure, Desire2Learn, and Sakai, to access Panopto content directly from their LMS in one click.

Panopto, Inc. announced that it had signed its 400th institutional license agreement since 2008 with North Carolina A&T State University, bringing its user count to more than 2.7 million students. Over the last three years, Panopto has deployed more campus-wide adoptions than all other lecture capture vendors combined, with Red Herring magazine naming Panopto as one of the top 100 private companies in North America for its rapid growth and strong product vision.
