Sharp Corporation may sell copier and air-conditioner businesses, reported Nikkei business daily. Kyocera Corp., Daiwa House Industry Co. Ltd., and Daikin Industries Ltd. have shown interest in copier and air-conditioner businesses, added Nikkei. Sharp has also signed contracts with two overseas consulting firms to determine which assets to sell, reported Nikkei. Sharp requires ¥360 billion of short-term commercial paper and will need ¥200 billion in September 2013. Sharp may also sell its buildings in Tokyo as well as television assembly plants in Poland, Malaysia, Mexico and Poland, a company source said. Sharp will also sell its 0.6% stake in Olympus Corporation and 9.8% stake in ELIIY Power Co., Ltd., the Nikkei reported. Sharp said in a statement on August 10, 2012 that it is considering various options to improve operations and did not comment further on the reports according to Reuters. Shares of Sharp were unchanged at ¥175 yen.
