Living Proof Enters into a Global Strategic Partnership with Valeant Pharmaceuticals in Aesthetic Dermatology
Jan 8 14
Living Proof, Inc. announced that they have entered into a global venture with Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. to develop, distribute and commercialize products for aesthetic dermatology which will be sold exclusively through Valeant's powerful direct-to-physician channel. The transaction is worth over $75 million in upfront and milestone payments as well as a 60/40 profit split. The initial product development efforts in aesthetic dermatology will be based on Living Proof's proprietary, cross-linking polymer film technology, Strateris(TM), which reshapes the appearance of skin. Patient demonstrating the results of Strateris, a new polymer film technology, invented by Living Proof scientists and world-class dermatologists to reshape the appearance of lax skin starting in one hour of application. Strateris was invented by an interdisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians at Living Proof led by Dr. Bob Langer, MIT Institute Professor; Dr. Betty Yu, an expert in trans-dermal drug delivery; and world-renowned dermatologists, Dr. Rox Anderson of Harvard University and Dr. Barbara Gilchrest of Boston University. Funded by Polaris Partners, the discovery of this revolutionary technology has been in development for almost 10 years and has been tested on over 600 women. Inspired by the attributes of youthful skin, the scientists devised a breathable, flexible and imperceptible film that can be worn all day to immediately reshape the appearance of skin. Strateris has core mechanical properties that are tuneable and could offer a diverse array of proprietary solutions to aesthetic dermatology challenges. Valeant and Living Proof plan to launch the first product to leverage the Strateris platform technology at the March 2014 American Academy of Dermatology conference. This first application of Strateris technology was developed to address the effects of aging on the appearance of the face, notably to reduce the appearance of under-eye bags and smooth wrinkles caused by lax skin within one hour of application.
Living Proof, Inc. Announces New Product Perfect Hair Day (PHD): 5-in-1 Styling Treatment
Sep 9 13
Living Proof, Inc. announced that, for the first time, the company has combined its proprietary technologies into a new product launching that breaks new ground in hair care and is expected to form the cornerstone of a new multi-million dollar franchise. In addition, Living Proof announced that it received three Notices of Allowance and one issued patent related to its innovative hair care products. Issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the three notices of allowance for patents expand Living Proof's proprietary technology around OFPMA, a moisture controlling molecular shield designed to weightlessly smooth, condition, strengthen, polish and extend the quality and appearance of styled hair. OFPMA is a key component of many Living Proof products. And for the first time, OFPMA is co-formulated with another proprietary Living Proof molecule for microscopic hair thickening, PBAE, to create a new product launched called Perfect Hair Day (PHD): 5-in-1 Styling Treatment. This new product delivers five benefits, a combination of styling and treatment in one formula, a feat which has been impossible to do with the established hair care ingredients of the last 30 years. Not only does this represent a step forward in hair care science but also responds to the ever-growing consumer demand for more convenience in their hair and beauty routines. By addressing an unmet consumer need and doing so with a proprietary solution using Living Proof patented molecules, the company sees the market opportunity of this first product in the franchise as upwards of $15 million in retail and salon sales in its first year.
