United Way Of Central Carolinas Inc.'s Board of Directors has named Curt W. Fochtmann, managing partner at Ernst & Young LLP, as the new board chair for 2013. Three new members and an ex-officio member have also been named: David Carpenter, vice president of planning and regulatory affairs for Piedmont Natural Gas; John Papadopulos, executive vice president head of retirement, Wells Fargo; Jeffrey L. Burgess, national professional practice director (NPPD) for Grant Thornton; Jess George, executive director of the Latin American Coalition.

United Way Of Central Carolinas Inc. named Linda Beck as Mooresville-Lake Norman community director, a new position created to provide campaign and community investment leadership in that area. Beck was formerly responsible for development and corporate gifts for the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Charlotte. She will begin her new job July 9. Before coming to Charlotte, Beck lived in Denver, Colo., and held sales and training positions. She will cultivate and strengthen relationships with individual donors and corporate partners as part of the United Way campaign in the Mooresville-Lake Norman area. She also will help increase awareness of needs in the area and how donor dollars are being invested to meet those needs through United Way-funded agencies.

The board of United Way Of Central Carolinas Inc. named John Cannon, managing director of industrials for Wells Fargo, as its chair for 2012. Cannon served as United Way's regional campaign cabinet chair in 2011 and vice chair in 2010. In addition, the board named three new members. Edward P. O'Keefe, general counsel of Bank of America; Adam Orvos, executive vice president of human resources for Belk Inc.; and Trey Ackerman, partner in the Charlotte office of Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP. Ackerman will serve in a non-voting capacity, representing the United Way Young Leaders.
