Avnet Technology Solutions Enters into Expanded Distribution Agreement to Offer EMC's Solutions Through Avnet Global Computing Components Business Unit in EMEA
Aug 11 14
Avnet Technology Solutions announced an expanded distribution agreement with EMC to offer EMC solutions through its Avnet Global Computing Components (AGCC) business unit in EMEA. This expanded agreement leverages the success of the long-standing relationship between Avnet and EMC in many countries across the globe and across multiple business units. As one of the primary distributors of EMC technologies, Avnet Technology Solutions has helped partners grow their mid-market storage business profitably with EMC solutions for more than 12 years. Avnet Global Computing Components will now offer EMC® VNX® and VNXe® unified storage solutions, EMC Isilon® scale-out NAS systems, and the EMC Atmos® Cloud Storage Platform as part of its Build OEM Better™ programme. This programme provides a lower total cost of ownership and reduced manufacturing time. Additionally, it offers flexibility and scalability via a global footprint of integration and service support for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and independent software vendors (ISVs). The addition of EMC enables AGCC EMEA to offer OEMs the opportunity to: Customise their storage and software solutions; Capitalise on a single interface, often leveraging a single IP fabric to more easily implement back-up recovery; Virtualise their applications to increase ease and consistency of deployment; Consolidate physical infrastructure (in development and in the field); Offer their application “as-a-service” (from their own or hosted data centres); Improve reliability and scale. Backed by Avnet's technical expertise and outstanding customer support team, OEMs will now be able to use EMC's portfolio of bundled storage, software and application solutions to move quickly from design to deployment of end applications. These applications range from telecommunications to manufacturing through to media and life sciences.
EMC Unveils New Elastic Cloud Storage Appliance
May 23 14
EMC has announced the middle east launch of its new cloud and software-defined storage offerings. The elastic cloud storage (ecs) appliance or ecsa makes it easier for enterprises to set up a private cloud-computing environment and also use public cloud services where appropriate. EMC is targeting two audiences with the ecs appliance — enterprise customers interested in running their own large-scale cloud-like storage deployments and service providers who want to break into the cloud storage game themselves. for both groups the company claims an economic advantage going with the ecs appliance over a public cloud. The ecs appliance allows customers to add hyperscale cloud capabilities to existing private and hybrid cloud environments delivering ease-of-use through self-service capabilities fully automated provisioning and data services for next-generation applications according to david goulden chief executive officer of information infrastructure at emc. The data driven by use of next-generation applications over mobile devices creates multiple challenges for service providers and customers: it should be accessible secure and analytic-ready and the storage infrastructure must be able to handle explosive growth.
