Social & Scientific Systems, Inc. has announced it was recently awarded a 5-year contract from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics (CDC/NCHS) to support the Health Indicators Warehouse (HIW). The value of the contract is approximately $4 million. The HIW, a system designed, developed and maintained by SSS, is a public facing repository for national, state and community health indicators. The HIW makes health indicators from a variety of data sources available to the public in a manner that facilitates open government and the open sharing of de-identified data.

Social & Scientific Systems, Inc. was awarded two 5-year contracts from the National Institutes of Health. One contract, to support the Gene Therapy Resource Program (GTRP) Clinical Coordinating Center for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), was awarded for approximately $15 million, and will be fully federally funded. The second contract, Support Services for the Epidemiology Coordinating Committee for the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), was awarded for approximately $10 million, and will also be wholly funded by the federal government. The GTRP supports the translation of new methods and insights achieved through gene therapy research into practical application at the clinical level, resulting in improved patient care. SSS has successfully served as the Clinical Coordinating Center for the GTRP since the program’s inception in 2007. The GTRP is a complex program, and SSS plays a central role in its success, having responsibilities for coordination and management of activities that traverse all program components core laboratories, committees and boards, gene therapy research investigators, and NHLBI program staff.
