Provident Bank Names David Apps and William Griffiths as Managing Directors

Provident Bank, a subsidiary of Provident New York Bancorp announced the addition of David Apps and William Griffiths to its northern and central market banking teams. As a managing director, Mr. Apps will join the team led by Chris Fiorillo, senior managing director, and be responsible for cultivating and growing middle market banking client relationships. Prior to joining Provident, Mr. Apps was managing director of Royal Bank of Scotland. As a managing director, Mr. Griffiths will develop and grow commercial banking relationships with middle market businesses throughout the region. He will work with the team led by Marianne McGoldrick, senior managing director. Prior to joining Provident, Mr. Griffiths was senior vice president of commercial lending for Rhinebeck Bank.

Provident Bank Announces Executive Changes

Charles Cullen, the president and CEO of Provident Bancorp Inc. unit Provident Bank, announced that he will be stepping down as part of the bank's executive leadership transition process. David Mansfield, executive vice president and CFO, will reportedly take over the bank's daily operations as its new CEO. Charles Withee, executive vice president and senior loan officer, will assume the role of president and oversee the bank's commercial lending operations while functioning as the 'face of the bank'. Cullen will remain with Provident Bank as executive chairman and maintain a regular presence in the bank's offices during the transition. The bank's board approved the changes May 8, 2013.

Provident Bank Promotes Melissa M. Juska to Vice President

Melissa M. Juska of Shrewsbury has been named vice president in the commercial real estate lending division at Provident Bank. Based in Provident's Woodbridge office, Juska is a commercial real estate portfolio manager responsible for commercial loan development and underwriting, including the origination, evaluation and structuring of loan requests. Juska joined Provident in 2009 and has more than 30 years of banking industry experience. Prior to joining Provident, she held positions with Sovereign Bank, Commerce Bank, First Union National Bank and Midlantic National Bank.
