Microsoft Corp. announced that ABB will deploy Microsoft Office 365 and Yammer to its employees worldwide. With about 145,000 employees in 100 countries, ABB is transitioning from multiple IT collaboration and messaging solutions to Office 365 to provide a single platform for productivity, communication, collaboration and enterprise social in the cloud. Office 365 integrates a number of typical functionalities that employees use in their daily work. The mail service works seamlessly with the online meeting and videoconferencing service. Office 365 simplifies online meetings, and in large organizations such as ABB that can typically reduce travel costs by 15% to 20%. ABB is rapidly embracing enterprise social networking solutions, implementing Yammer as its companywide platform to increase collaboration and knowledge sharing across the organization. ABB also plans to take full advantage of the planned integration between Office 365 and Yammer.
Yammer, Inc. Announces Message Translation to Ignite Multilingual Collaboration

Yammer, Inc. announced plans to add message translation capabilities, which will allow users to instantly translate Yammer conversations into their native languages. Yammer anticipated that message translation will drive greater international adoption and cross-cultural collaboration within and between organizations. How It Works: Whenever a Yammer conversation includes a language different from the user's default language setting, a translate button will appear below the initial post. Clicking translate will instantly convert the entire conversation, including related responses, into the user's default language. Clicking "show original text" will revert the conversation back to the initial language(s). Microsoft Translator supports 39 languages. This feature is planned for availability in late spring 2013 for Yammer Enterprise customers.
