Food advertising network Gourmet Ads announced that AppNexus, Inc. will be its ad server of record and will also power its ad exchange to help its food, grocery and packaged goods clients better engage with both household grocery buyers and home cooks online. Gourmet Ads chose AppNexus because of its global, unified ad serving platform which supports both display and mobile. The partnership will allow the five-year-old Gourmet Ads to significantly scale its publisher base, while delivering extended audiences for campaigns and global retargeting. In addition to Gourmet Ads' current campaign targeting options, the partnership will leverage the ability for brands to advertise right next to contextually relevant recipes across the Gourmet Ads network of websites. No matter the brand's ideal contextual environment, advertisers can reach them across more than 170 pre-defined contextual segments, and when required custom brand segments can be developed. For example, a cereal advertiser can now place its ads alongside breakfast recipes, or a tomato sauce company can share screen space with pasta recipes. Using AppNexus APIs (application programming interface), Gourmet Ads has launched a fully functional publisher dashboard which includes reporting, ad tag management, rich media and support. In addition to this, Gourmet Ads currently has in development a brand new innovative toolset for advertisers, scheduled for release in June, which will also leverage AppNexus' APIs.
AppNexus, Inc. announced it has raised $75 million in Series D funding led by Technology Crossover Ventures. With this Series D round, AppNexus total funding is $140.5 million.
