JPMorgan in Federal Probe over MBS

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of California is conducting parallel civil and criminal investigations into MBS offerings sold between 2005 and 2007 by JPMorgan Chase & Co. JPMorgan received notice in May that the civil division preliminarily concluded that the company violated federal securities laws regarding subprime and Alt-A RMBS offerings.

United States Attorney's Office Drops DaVita Inc. Inquiry

DaVita Inc. announced that the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for St. Louis informed the company that the USAO completed its investigation and is not taking any action against the company. In March 2005, the St. Louis USAO initiated its inquiry with a subpoena and subsequent document requests in connection with a joint civil and criminal investigation. The broad requests covered a range of topics including financial relationships with physicians and joint ventures. They also covered other services provided to patients, including the administration and billing of Epogen(R). DaVita(R) fully cooperated with the government investigation, providing hundreds of thousands of documents. The USAO closed its investigation without filing any charges, without demanding any payments and without seeking any changes in company policies.
