Bell Aquaculture Launches Aqua Feed Mill in Albany, Indiana; Steven Craig to Lead Bell Farms Aqua Feed Mill

On July 1, 2014 Bell Aquaculture LLC held the opening event for the Bell Farms Aqua Feed mill located in central Indiana USA. This mill represents the last major step toward completion of a vertically integrated aquaculture farm that has long been in development by the team at Bell. This vertical integration includes a 1,000 metric ton fish farm, an in-house processing facility and production of value added products generated from capture and cultivation of by-products. Bell Farms is expected to produce approximately 2 million pounds of feed per month sourcing over half of ingredients locally. Led by Dr. Steven Craig with over 25 years of experience in fish nutrition, the feeds from this mill will be tailored to the nutritional, biological and physiological needs of specific species at key points in the life cycle of the fish.

Bell Aquaculture to Open New Mill in Albany, Indiana, in Spring of 2014

Bell Aquaculture announced that plans to open a feed mill to supply feed for the local and national aquaculture industry. The new mill, located at Bell Farms in Albany, Indiana, will be to locally produce feed to service the aquaculture industry on a mass scale using local Indiana ingredients. Scott Nelson of Integral Fish Foods, recently purchased by Bell, will be the head of operations for the mill. Scott brings 30 years of experience in fish feed production, and will provide Bell with the expertise to produce feeds specific to fish species and key periods in the life cycle of the fish. The mill is expected to begin production this April with a production capacity of £2.2 million per month, sourcing 50-60% of ingredients locally. The mill is expected to generate up to 25 new jobs over the next 36 months, while reducing the need for local aquaculture industry to source feed from remote locations, thereby completing a cycle of sustainable aquaculture for local supply and demand.
