Telecom Italia Launches Cloud Storage Services for Business Customers Using CTERA's Cloud Storage Platform
Nov 20 13
CTERA Networks announced that Telecom Italia has launched cloud storage services for business customers using CTERA's cloud storage platform. Named "Nuvola It Data Space Easy," the TI-branded solution offers cloud backup and file sync & share services provisioned from Telecom Italia's secure, Italy-based data centers. The new CTERA-powered offering allows users to share and synchronize files between multiple devices, and back up data to TI's cloud. Enterprise-grade encryption is used on all data sent to the cloud, and customers control the encryption keys, meaning that their data is safe from unauthorized access. Telecom Italia selected CTERA after rigorous testing and deployment. Key factors in TI's selection of the CTERA platform included: unified, centrally managed solution for file sync, backup, and cloud storage gateways. Cross platform support for Windows, Mac OS, Linux, iOS and Android. Per-customer encryption key management and Active Directory identity management integration. The ability to run the service entirely out of Telecom Italia's Italy-based datacenter on its existing infrastructure, without any dependencies on offshore components. Multi-tier administration, private branding, and integrations with billing and self-service portals. Advanced de-duplication and bandwidth controls that enable the service to work optimally even on lower bandwidth connections.

CTERA Networks Announces Version 4.0 of its Cloud Storage Platform
Jun 25 13
CTERA Networks announced version 4.0 of its cloud storage platform, including new file sync and share, mobile security, and cloud storage SLA capabilities. The CTERA platform is a combination of cloud-side management software and on-premises cloud storage gateways and end point agents, which enables enterprises and service providers to deliver scalable cloud storage services, using underlying storage infrastructure from the likes of EMC, IBM and AWS. CTERA version 4.0 adds many new features across the CTERA application suite, with emphasis on a unified client for enterprise-class file sync and share and backup, plus secure mobile collaboration. With the new release, CTERA now offers per-tenant SLA policies that control in which storage bucket their data is stored, wider platform support for backup of virtual servers, and expanded scalability to hundreds of thousands of users. Key features of the new platform release include: Team Collaboration: Plan-based control over user privileges to create and use team workspaces, derived from Active Directory groups. Corporate IT can thus restrict file sharing in a scalable, transparent manner. Mobile Security Policy: Remote wipe and sandboxing of synchronized files on the device, supporting Apple iOS and Android devices, with Windows Phone 8 planned soon. Cloud Storage SLAs: Differential service levels by storage pool, enabling customers to differentiate their offerings to end-users based on storage infrastructure features, such as redundancy, performance or uptime guarantee. Enhanced Scalability: Supporting multiple database servers for customer instances in the cloud, making it possible to scale out a CTERA-based service to multiple customers with hundreds of thousands of connected gateways and end-points. Microsoft Hyper-V Backup: Hypervisor-level backup that allows fast backup, replication and recovery of VMs on Hyper-V servers. Microsoft SharePoint Backup: Application-aware backup and recovery of SharePoint servers. This is added to Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server and Active Directory backup, already supported by CTERA. Active Directory Integration: Full integration with corporate Active Directory and LDAP for user authentication and single sign-on (SSO). This includes support for complex tree and forest topologies, as well as Kerberos authentication protocols.
