FIRSTavenue Opens Office in Sydney, Australia; Adds Martin Donnelly as Partner

FIRSTavenue announced the addition of Martin Donnelly as Partner to their staff and the opening of an office in Sydney, Australia. Mr. Donnelly will work closely with investors throughout Australia and New Zealand, as well as sourcing prospective clients. Having over 20 years of experience in alternative assets, Mr. Donnelly joins FIRSTavenue from Blackstone, where he was a managing director of their Hedge Funds Solutions Group where he focused on business development and client relations in Australia and the Pacific Rim.

Chris Leach Joins First Avenue as Partner and Co-Head of International Sales

First Avenue announced the addition of Chris Leach who is joining the firm as a Partner based in the London office. Mr. Leach will serve along with David Hunter as Co-Head of International Sales including coverage of Europe, Australia, Asia and the Middle East. Mr. Leach has over 20 years of advisory and sales experience in alternative assets and capital markets, with over 15 years focused on private equity. Prior to joining First Avenue, he was with Park Hill Group, where he was a Managing Principal and senior coverage officer for Europe and Asia. Before Park Hill, he was an Executive Director at UBS in its Private Funds Group.

First Avenue Appoints Phil Pool as Co-Chairman

First Avenue announced the appointment of Phil Pool as Co-Chairman. He joins Jonathan Davie, who has served as the firm's Chairman since its inception in 2006. Mr. Pool will serve as a member of First Avenue's internal management committee and advise on the overall strategic direction of the firm. In addition, he will contribute to the firm's client sourcing efforts. Mr. Pool has been a leader in the alternative fundraising business for over thirty years. He began his career as an investment banker at Kidder, Peabody & Co. After Kidder, Peabody, he was a senior professional on Merrill Lynch's fundraising team. In 1994, Mr. Pool left Merrill Lynch and joined Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ), where he co-founded the DLJ Private Fund Group, which he and his partners built into a market-leading franchise. After DLJ was acquired by Credit Suisse in 2000, Mr. Pool joined Willis Stein & Partners, where he was a Managing Director responsible for business development and investor relations.
