National Union Fire Insurance alleges that Republic Services did not pay more than $15.8 million in premiums, expenses and fees in connection with workers' compensation liability, employer's liability, products liability, general commercial liability and auto insurance coverage provided to Republic Services and its predecessors. The agreements National Union Fire Insurance signed with Republic Services and its predecessors governed how the parties remit payment of various expenses, premiums, fees and collateral to National Union Fire Insurance. Republic Services and its predecessors refused to pay the amounts each owed and refused arbitration, as required under the agreements, National Union Fire Insurance alleges.
