Apical Introduces Thecus N2560 NAS Server with USB 3.0

Apical announced the launch of Thecus N2560, which provides users with an easy solution for USB copying with press of a single button. Simply plug a USB flash drive into the front port and press the button above the power switch to get started. All the files on the USB drive will then be backed-up onto the Thecus N2560 NAS server. USB flash drives are often used for storage, back-ups, and transferring files between devices. But when it comes to NAS systems, USB data transfers are often a complicated process requiring a third-party device, such as a laptop or PC. With the incorporation of USB 3.0 and this one-press-copy feature, Thecus has simplified the backup process giving users more free time to spend with their data. Thecus Intelligent N2560 NAS server helps to record the copy task and can even display the ongoing transfers' progress rate. With the help of Intelligent NAS, any user can easily manage and improve their backup policy. To back up the files on these units, a user simply choose USB copy in its NAS's control panel, and all data will be quickly stored.

Apical Releases Version 8 of Local Tone Map Core Iridix

Apical announced the release of the latest generation of its local tone map core iridix. iridix is a precise digital model of the way the eye adapts to lighting variations, based on Apical's extensive research into human vision. It is employed in digital cameras and smartphones to improve the visibility of shadow and highlight detail, making captured photos and videos look more natural and close to the appearance of the real scene. iridix is a highly efficient and accurate local tone map engine, adjusting each pixel of each frame dynamically to match the processing which occurs in the retina. First deployed in Nikon digital cameras, it has been integrated into hundreds of millions of consumer devices and has been behind many real-time High Dynamic Range (HDR) functions. For HDR sensors, iridix 8 can compress dynamic range from 160dB to 60dB standard output with complete preservation of image detail. iridix 8 is the result of several years' intensive R&D aimed at implementing the most advanced and accurate image processing algorithms in a compact, low power silicon core. iridix 8 is integrated into Apical's Assertive Camera image signal processor subsystem.
