International Olympic Committee Key Developments

Seven Network Re-Acquires the Australian Broadcast Rights from International Olympic Committee

Seven Network has re-acquired the Australian broadcast rights to the next three Olympics the latest long-term television deal struck by the International Olympic Committee. The IOC said Seven secured the rights on all media platforms to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang South Korea and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Financial terms were not announced. Australian media have said the deal could be worth the equivalent of $186 million.

International Olympic Committee Announces Management Changes

The International Olympic Committee announced that it has appointed Ms. Lindsay Glassco as International Cooperation and Development Director and Mrs. Lana Haddad as Chief Finance Officer. Ms. Glassco currently holds the position of President and CEO of Special Olympics Canada, overseeing all Canadian operations for the organisation, which provides daily sports programmes and competition opportunities to people with intellectual disabilities. A Canadian national, Mrs. Glassco will take over from Tomas Sithole, who retires at the end of the year. She will take up her post on 20 January 2014. The IOC's new Chief Finance Officer, Dr. Lana Haddad, joins from Procter and Gamble International, where she is currently Associate Director, Finance Analysis and Capability Building for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

International Olympic Committee Names Kit McConnell as New Sports Director

Rugby World Cup chief Kit McConnell has been named the International Olympic Committee's new sports director. A 40-year-old dual citizen of New Zealand and Australia, McConnell has spent a decade with the International Rugby Board and overseen three editions of that sport's top global tournament.
