Ericsson AB Introduces PKB5000W Series of DC/DC Power Modules

Ericsson AB has introduced the PKB5000W series of open-frame isolated 120W eighth-brick DC/DC power modules. Importantly, the new PKB5000W module features an ultra-wide input range of 18 to 75V DC, which means that the device is also suitable for 24V or 48V telecom systems. Offering outstanding thermal performance and derating capabilities, the module delivers very high efficiency of typically 91.5% at 12V full load. The single output units offer the nominal outputs of 3.3, 5 or 12 VDC with maximum outputs of up to 30A and 120W. Maximum outputs of specific models in the series include: the PKB5110WPI with 3.3V, 30A and 99W; the PKB5111WPI with 5V, 20A, 100W; and the PKB5113WPI with 12V, 10A and 120W.

Ericsson AB Opens Broadcast and Media Services Facility in Boulogne-Billancourt

Ericsson AB has opened a new broadcast and media services facility in Boulogne-Billancourt near Paris, France. The Mediadome is housing a 3,000 square meter TV facility as well as the offices of Canal+Overseas. The center currently manages production, post-production and distribution of 30 television channels, as well as non-linear, on-demand services. The company has developed the Mediadome facility to provide services to multiple customers and be an integral part of the network of other broadcast and media centers, and to develop services and expertise both inside and outside of France, and integrate its capabilities with those of Red Bee Media.

Ericsson Enables KPN to Launch Cloud-Based PTT Service in Europe

Ericsson AB has enabled KPN to launch a cloud-based push-to-talk, or PTT, service in Europe. Cloud-based PTT allows users to instantly communicate with large audiences at the push of a button - supporting the widest range of devices and networks, including 4G/LTE and Wi-Fi. The service, which is provided by Ericsson and powered by Kodiak Networks' next-generation PTT technology, was made available in Europe this year after being rolled out in the US in 2012. As a result, KPN is now able to offer its customers cost-efficient, enhanced instant group communication services over its existing 3G, 4G/LTE and Wi-Fi networks. KPN Push-To-Talk contributes to increased efficiency and reduced risks in the workplace, particularly for employees who work alone in the field. Within a second, can start a voice connection with a person or a whole group of people, anywhere in the Netherlands. And because can view GPS and real-time presence and availability information for contacts, can also be sure that the people are talking to are out of harm's way in the case of an emergency. By offering PTT as a cloud-based IT managed service, are able to continually manage and update it on KPN's behalf, without the need for costly network infrastructure modifications." KPN's PTT service is available in two packages: a standard PTT service with up to 15 contacts per PTT user in a single group; or PTT Pro with up to 1,300 contacts per PTT user in up to 130 groups.
