Newedge announced executive appointments in its metals business in London, Hong Kong and New York. Peter Barrowcliff, previously the brokerage's global chief operation officer for metals, will now be global head of metals. Brian Flaherty was hired as U.S. head of metals, based in New York, and Wendy Law and Alan Burr, who both joined the company from Natixis, have been promoted to co-heads of Asia-Pacific Metals.

Brian Flaherty has joined the company as US head of metals, based in New York, while Wendy Law and Alan Burr have been promoted to become co-heads of APAC metals, based in Hong Kong. Barrowcliff joined the ring-dealing London Metal Exchange member in July as global chief operating officer for metals.

Potential Buyers Reportedly Eye Newedge

Newedge Group S.A. has been put up for sale and brokers and bankers are discussing the potential sale, French daily Les Echos said, citing market sources. Newedge's asset execution and clearing businesses could be sold separately, the paper said, citing BGC Partners, Inc., BNP Paribas SA and State Street Corporation among potential buyers. Newedge, Societe Generale Group and Credit Agricole S.A. declined to comment, the paper said.
