Shanghai General Motors Co., Ltd. announced sales results for the month and first half ended June 2014. For the half year, the company sold 842,277 cars, increasing 7.92% from the same period of last year. For the month of June 2014, the company's sales hit 136,956 units in June 2014, up 7.6 % year on year.

Shanghai General Motors Announces Executive Changes

Shanghai General Motors announced the appointment of Wang Yongqing as president. Yongqing replaces Wang Xiaoqiu, who is leaving SGM to lead the passenger vehicle unit of SAIC Motor Corporation. Having joined the company in 1995, Yongqing is a veteran at SGM and currently serves as vice president for manufacturing, logistics, and quality control.

Shanghai GM to Premier Buick Envision in China Later 2014

Shanghai GM has announced that its new high-end midsize sport utility vehicle (SUV), the Buick Envision, will be unveiled in China later 2014. The new Buick Envision SUV, which is equipped with all-wheel-drive technology, will be offered with fuel-saving start/stop technology as a standard feature. The new model is based on a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) concept vehicle launched in April 2011. The PHEV was equipped with a 2.0-litre SIDI intelligent direct injection turbocharged engine with a pair of electric motor generators in its dual automatic/manual eight-speed transmission. The new model is likely to set a trend in China's high-end midsize SUV segment in parameters such as space, safety, performance and specifications. Besides the new model, GM has the Encore and new Enclave in Buick's China SUV portfolio providing SUV buyers with a range of options.
