Warner Music Group and Atlantic Records Sue over Unpaid Internships

A former intern has filed a class-action lawsuit against music labels Warner Music Group and Atlantic Records, following a recent spate of similar suits filed in other industries. The intern, Justin Henry, said in a filing in state Supreme Court in Manhattan, that he was never paid for work performed between October 2007 and May 2008 but should have been under state labor law. In addition, the suit alleges Henry didn't receive academic or vocational training as part of the internship and that the companies would have had to hire other employees to do the work that Henry was doing for free. The also suit claims Henry routinely worked more than 40 hours a week but never received overtime pay.
