Macquarie Generation Key Developments

The Sale Of Delta Assets Is Still On

New South Wales government's remaining power producer has been pushed back by the drawn out $1.5 billion Macquarie Generation sale, deals for Delta Electricity assets are still on the cards for 2014.

NSW Government Is Still Open To All Options On Macquarie Generation

NSW government may consider alternative options for the sale of Macquarie Generation as ERM Power Limited (ASX:EPW) is still interested to buy the assets of Macquarie Generation. Mike Baird, Treasurer of NSW, said, "My desk is open for ideas on the way to deal with the challenge that has come about as a result of this. It doesn't mean there is not a way forward." Rod Sims, Chairman of ACCC said he expected other suitors to emerge. He added, "As to who else will buy MacGen, well I think over time there will be other bidders. The fact that it can't work this time round shouldn't dissuade a later attempt when the market is a bit more conducive to a sale." It is still uncertain whether NSW government will hold the sale of Macquarie.

AGL And ERM Reportedly Plans To Acquire Macquarie As Part Of Privatization

AGL Energy Limited (ASX:AGK) and ERM Power Limited (ASX:EPW) have emerged as the leading contenders for Macquarie Generation, the biggest asset in the current $3 billion phase of the NSW power privatization, according to sources. Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Public Company Limited (SET:RATCH), Transfield Services Limited (ASX:TSE) and GDF SUEZ Australian Energy Pty Ltd. are also expected to lodge expressions of interest for Macquarie. The deadline for expressions of interest in Macquarie is 10 am on August 19, 2013.
