The earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) came in at EUR 1.035 billion, up from EUR 463 million at end-2007. The positive trend in the 2008 results was chiefly due to the performance of the operating revenue, up 2% on the year, and the drop in operating costs, down 6.1%.
