Keppel FELS Limited Secures Contract from TS Offshore Limited to Construct Ultra-High Specification Jackup Rig Worth About USD 500 Million

Keppel FELS Limited has secured a contract from TS Offshore Limited, to construct an ultra-high specification jackup rig worth about USD 500 million. Scheduled for delivery in first quarter of 2017, it will be the first jackup built to Keppel's new proprietary KFELS N Plus design. With its leg measuring 678 feet or about 68 storeys tall, and a maximum combined drilling load of 3,860 kips, the KFELS N Plus is able to meet stringent operating requirements for the most challenging wells. It can work at a maximum water depth of 500 feet, drill to depths of 35,000 feet, and is equipped with a 100 feet cantilever outreach. When delivered, it is expected to be deployed in the Eastern China Sea but will also have provisions built in to enable the rig to operate in the North Sea.
Keppel FELS Limited Secures Contracts to Build Three High-Specification KFELS B Class Jackup Rigs

Keppel FELS Limited has secured contracts to build three high-specification KFELS B Class jackup rigs worth about $650 million from new customer Fecon International Corp. (Fecon). Backed by experienced industrial entrepreneur, A.P. Dobrov, Fecon is a new player to the offshore oil and gas industry, and is targeting the growing offshore drilling markets of Africa, Middle East, and Southeast Asia. In addition, Fecon's leadership team has extensive connections, experience and knowledge of working in Russia and has identified offshore drilling in Russia as a strategic market with good growth opportunities. The three rigs are scheduled to be delivered progressively within second half of 2016. The cost-effective and high-performance KFELS B Class rig is able to operate in water depths of up to 400 feet and drill to 30,000 feet deep. Customised to Fecon's requirements, the three jackup rigs will each have a full 15,000 psi BOP system, 75- feet cantilever outreach and be able to accommodate 150 persons.
Keppel FELS Secures Contract to Build KFELS B Class Proprietary Design

Keppel FELS has secured its first contract this year, to build a KFELS B class proprietary design jackup drilling rig for repeat customer UMW Drilling for $218 million. This is the third of its kind that UMW Drilling will own. The UMW Oil & Gas subsidiary acquired its first two jackup rigs from SD Standard Drilling, paying $214 million for the first rig and $223 million for the second. As for Keppel FELS, this is the 75th KFELS B class rig ordered since 2000, or an average of six of the rig type ordered per year. The rig was designed by Keppel's technology arms, Offshore Technology Development and Bennett Offshore, and is considered by rig owners as the industry standard for modern jackup rigs. The KFELS B class jackup rig can operate in water depths of 400 feet and is capable of drilling in water depths of 30,000 feet. It is also equipped with accommodation facilities for up to 150 people. UMW's first jackup built by Keppel FELS, UMW NAGA 4, is deployed off Malaysia, while its second rig UMW NAGA 5 is expected to be delivered in May next year with a charter from Nido Petroleum Philippines. The company currently owns a semi-submersible rig and three premium jackup rigs and four hydraulic workover units. UMW Oil & Gas is building up its offshore drilling rig fleet and intends to grow from a regional to global player.
