Australian Securities & Investments Commission Announces Executive Changes

Australian Securities & Investments Commission announced 20 senior executive appointments to head up the 12 stakeholder and eight deterrence teams. Among the stakeholder teams, Lee White will be the leader of accountants and auditors, Greg Yanco will lead market participants, Pamela Hanrahan will head investment managers, Louise du Pre-Alba will lead super funds, Stefan Dopking will be leader of the insolvency practitioners and liquidators team, Mark Adams will head exchange market operations, Greg Kirk will be head of deposit takers, credit and insurance providers, Delia Rickard will be head of consumers and retail investors, Camille Blackburn will lead the investment banks team, John Price will head corporations, and Deborah Koromilas will head financial advisers. The head of the emerging mining and resources position is yet unfilled. ASIC has also appointed Michael Kingston to the role of chief legal officer, a position created as part of the restructure.

Australian Securities & Investments Commission Announces Board Changes

Australian Securities & Investments Commission announced that corporate shake-up has resulted in some senior departures. On 11 June 2008, it was announced that several senior managers, including enforcement officer, Jan Redfern, and director Keith Inman will be leaving. ASIC chairman Tony D'Aloisio is trying to set the organisation as an alternative watchdog for the investment market after several high-profile legal losses.

Australian Securities & Investments Commission Appoints John Bligh as Chief Executive

Former IBM vice-president and executive director of services for Accenture Asia Pacific, John Bligh, has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Australian Securities & Investments Commission. Mr. Bligh, who took up the post in February, has also been appointed as ASIC's Victorian regional commissioner. As chief executive, Mr. Bligh will be responsible for IT, finance, HR and consumer service delivery. His role as regional commissioner will see him liaising with the Victorian businesses, and taking responsibility for financial services and investor and consumer communities.
