Orange Communications SA Announces Earnings Results for the First Quarter of 2012

Orange Communications SA announced earnings results for the first quarter of 2012. For the quarter, total revenue increased 2.7% to CHF 306 million, operating revenue increased 5% to CHF 285 million were about CHF 14 million higher than in the same period in the previous year. Operating profit (adjusted EBITDA) amounted to CHF 86.5 million in the first quarter of 2012, 31% higher than the value in the same period of 2011 of CHF 65.9 million.

CVC Repotedly In Talks With PEP

CVC Capital Partners Ltd is in talks with Providence Equity Partners LLC (PEP) to merge Orange Communications SA with Sunrise Communications AG. Three people close to the situation said that the negotiations between CVC and PEP are subject to PEP winning the bid to acquire Orange from France Telecom. They also added that CVC is in talks with other bidders as well about similar arrangements. People close to the sale said that CVC is making clear that its talks should have no impact on the disposal and final offers are due on December 12, 2011. One person close to the process said, "If anyone is trying to condition their offer on a follow on merger, they will fail.” One banker involved in the process said that France Telecom expects to complete the sale by the end of 2011 or January 2012.
