Company Overview of Nasuni Corporation
Nasuni Corporation, an enterprise storage company, offers cloud-integrated storage solutions by combining cloud storage with on-premises storage controllers to deliver storage as a service that eliminate backups, improve remote performance, and increase collaboration. The company’s solutions are used to store, protect, manage, and distribute different types of data, including CAD drawings, product schematics, office documents, and movies and videos. It offers filer, an on-premises component that delivers storage, backup, and offsite protection in a single appliance; and cloud storage, a hard drive that provides an unlimited pool of raw storage that could grow on demand. Cleversafe inc. and Nasuni Announce Strategic Storage Partnership
Jul 29 14
Cleversafe, Inc. and Nasuni announced that they have entered into a strategic partnership, enabling reliable, cost-effective, cloud-integrated storage for distributed organizations. With Cleversafe Dispersed Storage(R) Network (dsNet(R)) technology and Nasuni Filers, enterprises can deploy unified storage, backup and multi-site disaster recovery into a single storage system that enables centralized control, integrated backup and significant cost savings -- especially as data grows to the Petabyte-level and beyond. With this combined solution, distributed offices and mobile employees can access a single global fileshare that makes collaboration and centralized data protection possible, regardless of a user's physical location. Cleversafe's dsNet(R) object-based storage solution uses a patented, geographically dispersed erasure coding algorithm that stores data as virtualized and encrypted 'slices' that are spread across multiple independent storage nodes in a cloud. With dispersed object storage, the need for data replication and RAID is eliminated, which reduces capital and operating expenses while improving data uptime and security. This approach also enhances the availability of data through toleration of multiple, simultaneous drive, node, site and/or network failures while maintaining continuous access to data. Using Cleversafe as the primary storage pool, Nasuni Filers facilitate traditional NAS and block access to a single, master dataset shared across the world. Nasuni combines distributed access with centralized control, enabling unified access to data while simplifying infrastructure and lowering costs. Local Nasuni Filers cache frequently accessed data and provide local performance, while Cleversafe's dsNet storage - deployed across many data centers - acts as the central hub.
Nasuni Corporation Announces New Version of Nasuni Service
Jul 18 14
Nasuni Corporation has announced its 6.0 upgrade to The Nasuni Service, which includes cloud-scale global file locking as well as desktop file synchronization for complete mobile access to data. The company also released a new low-cost Nasuni Filer appliance, the NF-100, and upgraded hardware across its family of high-performance appliances. Just as machine virtualization separates the concept of a machine (server) from the physical hardware, File Data Virtualization separates file data from confines of storage hardware. Data is no longer bound to - or limited by - a box. The data can be made available anywhere around the world, managed and protected, without replicating physical copies and without contention since there is only one master source of the data. File data virtualization drastically reduces the cost and burden of storing and managing end-user file data, and gives IT a fast, easy way to scale enterprise storage to any number of locations across the globe. With the cloud as the store, scalability is infinite, while local caching provided by the Nasuni Filer delivers the high performance end-users need. Nasuni's new cloud-scale global file locking capability takes full advantage of its cloud-centric storage architecture. Typical file locking on a server prevents users from accidentally interfering with one another's files; Nasuni delivers this same functionality at global scale. For the first time in data storage history, IT can use a global locking service that operates at cloud scale with no single point of failure. Nasuni can accomplish this feat because the intelligence behind Nasuni's file lock resides in its cloud-based service and not in a single storage controller device, which can fail or act as a choke point. UniFS finally delivers on the promise of a global file system that is scalable across any number of locations. Nasuni's global locking can be configured at a folder level as needed. Locks can be viewed and, if needed, broken through the Nasuni Management Console and Filer interfaces. And as always, Nasuni's advanced conflict management and UniFS global file system protects customers at all times from any data loss. And all data remains secure. The Nasuni Service benefits from a cloud-centric approach using its UniFS Global File System. The intelligence of the file system lives in the cloud, removing any single point of failure and eliminating scalability issues. The flow of data is not limited by any single storage controller or network choke point. Instead, every location interacts with the cloud-based global file system simultaneously.
