Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is an association of more than 4,700 member companies that offers common platform for public and private sectors, government, and member companies. The confederation focuses on agriculture, biotechnology, capital goods, defense, drugs, entertainment, and FMCG sectors. Its services include WTO, TQM, TPM, and technology, SME, invest India services, green business, exports, environment management, energy, and corporate advisory. In addition, it also conducts business fairs, conferences, corporate training, community development, disaster management, education and literacy, population, and health programs. CII is based in New Delhi, India.

Confederation of Indian Industry Announces Executive Changes

Confederation of Indian Industry announced that the company has appointed S Gopalakrishnan as new president of the company for the year 2013 to 2014. He succeeds Adi Godrej as the new President. Ajay S Shriram is company President designate. Sumit Mazumder was elected as vice president of the company.

Confederation of Indian Industry Announces Management Appointments

Sudhir Deoras, managing director of TRF, has been elected Chairman, and Viresh Oberoi, managing director of mjunction services, has been elected deputy chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry Eastern Region. Mr. Deoras name was announced at the first meeting of the reconstituted Eastern Regional Council held in Kolkata on March 30. Mr. Deoras began his career with the Tata group after graduating in Mechanical Engineering. He joined Tata Steel in 1973 as a graduate trainee and soon completed a post graduate diploma in Electrical and Metallurgy from Shavak Nanavati Technical Institute (earlier Jamshedpur Technical Institute). Mr. Deoras was appointed senior executive vice president of Tata International in 1998 and was appointed its managing director in 1999. He took over as joint managing director of Tata Sponge Iron in 2006. In April 2007, he was appointed managing director of TRF. Mr. Deoras has had a long association with CII. He was the chairman of the HR and IR subcommittee of CII Eastern Region. He was also the co-chairman of the CII National Committee on Export. Mr. Oberoi is the founder CEO and managing director of mjunction services and has led the company since 2001. Under his leadership, mjunction has evolved from a fledgling start-up in 2001 to e-commerce company and the world's prime e-marketplace for steel.
