GreenBytes, Inc. Key Developments

GreenBytes Names as a Certified Dell Technology Partner

GreenBytes, Inc. announced that it has become a certified technology partner in Dell's Technology Partner Program. As part of the program, GreenBytes has certified its IO Offload Engine, a software-defined storage appliance, to run on Dell PowerEdge servers. GreenBytes has also certified its award-winning vIO virtual storage appliance (VSA) with the Dell PowerEdge VRTX to give customers access to an all-in-one VDI solution that scales easily and cost effectively from tens to hundreds of users in a single appliance. Aimed at enterprise customers and service providers, GreenBytes' IO Offload Engine has been certified with Dell PowerEdge servers to compliment a new or existing virtual desktop solution set by delivering a high-performance storage component for high capacity and low cost persistent desktops. The IO Offload Engine enables full-featured persistent virtual desktops at the cost of less functional, non-persistent desktops without changing the existing compute infrastructure because the appliance appears simply as a storage target. The IO Offload Engine on Dell can scale from a single department to cloud with the same approach and architecture, with less risk and complexity.

Both Norrod and Barber bring decades of business leadership experience to GreenBytes. Prior to joining GreenBytes, James Norrod was CEO of Infinite Power Solutions from 2011 to 2012, which was acquired in January 2013. He was Chairman, President and CEO of Segway, Inc. until the company was acquired in 2010. Previously, he was Chairman and Founder of Xanoptix, Inc., from 2000 to 2004. Steve Barber previously served as CEO of Xyratex.

GreenBytes, Inc. Announces New Features for v4.1 of Desktop Virtualization Storage Optimization Software

GreenBytes, Inc. announced the addition of significant new features and performance enhancements for its award-winning software for desktop virtualization and storage I/O optimization. Featuring GreenBytes' patented zero latency inline deduplication, v4.1 was architected to provide the integral building blocks required for quick entry into the growing VDI market by enabling customers to create customizable packages of high quality, ultra-performant, full-featured desktop virtualization solutions that are simple, easy to deploy, and scale from departmental to cloud, increasing customer time-to-value. GreenBytes' I/O and desktop virtualization storage optimization software is available through channel partners offering the vIO virtual storage appliance or IO Offload Engine, a software-defined storage appliance. GreenBytes solutions are cloud-scalable from hundreds to thousands of users and can size to any desktop virtualization environment: SMB and Branch Office - leverage local direct attached storage (DAS) for appliance options; Mid-Market and Departmental - using converged infrastructure or shared storage architectures; enterprise - optimized shared SAN-based arrays for scale-out performance. GreenBytes software-defined storage solutions divert OS and swap disk activity away from primary storage to high-speed flash, solving the performance and latency problems and poor user experience that occur during peak usage. By moving the virtual desktop datastores via GreenBytes' software optimizations, inconsistent performance and crippling congestion become a thing of the past via solutions that deliver the powerful flexibility of a persistent image virtual desktop at the cost of non-persistent deployments. Improved Virtual Storage Appliance - In v4.1, the GreenBytes vIO software enables converged infrastructure hosting of full persistent desktops with as few as three 200GB SSDs. Clone full desktop images via NFS in less than 30 seconds using GreenBytes' patent-pending enhancements for vastly improved deployment times. GreenBytes is a VMware SRA certified offering, which enables deduplication-aware efficiency when creating a disaster recovery plan that leverages Site Recovery Manager in VMware vCenter.
