Tweed Inc. Announces Collaborative Research Partnerships with Ryerson University and the University of Ottawa

Tweed Marijuana Inc. announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Tweed Inc. is launching collaborative research with researchers from two Canadian universities at its facility in Smiths Falls, Ontario. The recently signed memoranda of understanding with researchers from Ryerson University and the University of Ottawa will contribute towards building a better knowledge base surrounding medical marijuana in Canada. The first experiments on how environment can affect the health and productivity of cannabis plants are already underway. The research work will be ongoing for the foreseeable future and will be an important aspect of Tweed's strategic plans.

Ryerson University Appoints Ann Cavoukian as Executive Director of the New Ryerson University Institute for Privacy and Big Data, Effective July 1, 2014

Ryerson University announced the appointment of Ontario's Information and Privacy Commissioner, Dr. Ann Cavoukian, as the Executive Director of the new Ryerson University Institute for Privacy and Big Data. Currently a distinguished visiting professor at Ryerson, Dr. Cavoukian's appointment will take effect at the conclusion of her unprecedented third term as Commissioner, on July 1, 2014.

Simon Fraser University Joins with Ryerson University and the Bombay Stock Exchange Institute to Develop and Expand Groundbreaking Incubator in India

Simon Fraser University has joined with Ryerson University and the Bombay Stock Exchange Institute (BSEI) to develop and expand a groundbreaking incubator in India. The BSEI-Ryerson Digital Media Zone was established in July 2013 and this week Ryerson, SFU and BSEI signed a letter of intent to collaborate on its further development through an accelerator program. The incubator allows entrepreneurs to fast track their startups and connect with mentors, customers and investors. It lays the groundwork to help young entrepreneurs expand into both the Indian and Canadian markets and provides support and resources for entrepreneurship development and professional development education. The five-year agreement between Ryerson, Ryerson Futures Inc., Simon Fraser University and SF Univentures will support collaboration on a number of fronts, including accelerating the development and commercialization of innovative research and new technologies in India and Canada and providing opportunities for entrepreneurship education, training and development. For Ryerson, the arrangement will enhance opportunities for young entrepreneurs. The BSEI-Ryerson Digital Media Zone is built on a unique model developed at Ryerson University that has attracted international attention.
