University of California, Riverside Selects Maria R. Anguiano as Vice Chancellor for Planning and Budget

University of California-Riverside announced the selection of Maria R. Anguiano as Vice Chancellor for Planning and Budget. Anguiano is currently Interim Deputy Chief of Staff - Strategic Planning and Analysis at the University of California Office of the President. Prior to that, she served for four years as Chief of Staff and Director of Strategic Initiatives in the office of UC's Chief Financial Officer, Peter Taylor. In that work, she helped create and lead a variety of budget, accounting, financial planning, and capital planning efforts that are bringing long-term positive effects to the UC system. In addition, in the past year, Anguiano has served as a senior advisor to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Post-Secondary Success Team. There she created a new costing framework to help improve financial reporting for universities nationwide. She is also a member of the State of California's Private Post-secondary Education Advisory Council. The Vice Chancellor for Planning and Budget has primary responsibility for supporting all aspects of the Riverside campus' capital and financial plan and the planning and budget process. Specific responsibilities include budget administration, campus operating funds, resource planning and management, financial policy, information systems support, statistical information management, institutional research, and capital, environmental, space, and strategic planning. The Vice Chancellor represents the campus with the Office of the
President and all external agencies on financial matters.

The University of California, Riverside to Launch Ph.D. in Art History in Fall 2014

The University of California, Riverside will offer a Ph.D. in art history beginning in fall 2014, a degree program that will focus on the history of photography, sculpture and architecture. The degree also will give students interdisciplinary training across the history of art and architecture. Applications for admission in fall 2014 are due January 5, 2014.
