Mehiläinen Oy Appoints Petri Parvinen as a New Member of Board

Mehiläinen Oy is strengthening its board by appointing Professor Petri Parvinen as a new member of its board. Parvinen earned the qualification Doctor of Philosophy from the Helsinki University of Technology. He has also studied in the UK (at the London School of Economics) and Stockholm (at the Stockholm School of Economics) and served as a visiting researcher and lecturer at Stanford University. Prof. Parvinen has extensive understanding of business life. He currently serves on the board of several companies. While possessing background in many aspects of the academic and business world, Prof. Parvinen finds that social and health-care services are especially close to his heart.

Mehilainen Oy announced that Matti Bergendahl, long time CEO of the company, left his position on the September 22, 2014. Until a new CEO is appointed, Vice President for Working Life Services Ove Uljas will act as interim CEO in addition to his own responsibilities.

Mehiläinen Oy will strengthen its board with two members. Leena Laitinen, M.Sc. (Econ.) and Juhani Laakso, M.Sc. (Econ.), have been selected to sit on the Mehiläinen Board from September 4, 2013. Leena Laitinen has just been selected as CEO of Snellman Group. She will take up that position on January 1, 2014. Laitinen’s previous work includes handling management duties for the S Group for 18 years. Juhani Laakso works as an investment manager with Triton, and he is currently a member of the board of such companies as Suomen Lähikauppa Oy.
