Cloudmark Inc. Key Developments

CCA Partners With Cloudmark to Deliver Spam Reporting Service to Competitive Wireless Providers to Help Protect Against Mobile Messaging Threats

Competitive Carriers Association (CCA) announced a partnership with Cloudmark to deliver a new, value-added service for CCA carrier members that allows subscribers to report mobile spam and help protect against mobile messaging threats. Through its new relationship, CCA will offer the GSMA Spam Reporting Service (GSMA SRS)(TM), powered by Cloudmark technology, enabling carrier members to benefit from collaborative, real-time global insight into threats against mobile networks and subscribers. CCA members include more than 100 carriers with a licensed service area covering more than 95% of the United States. By adopting the GSMA SRS, CCA members will gain actionable intelligence on unwanted mobile network traffic, along with the ability to share threat data with other carriers and receive analysis of global threats. The service provides mobile network operators (MNOs) with the insight they need to detect SMS spam, terminate originating numbers and develop preventative policies and procedures to protect their networks and subscribers. The GSMA SRS receives messaging spam reports submitted by mobile subscribers from participating mobile networks around the world. Feedback from subscribers who forward unsolicited messages, most commonly by typing '7726' or 'SPAM,' is aggregated, analyzed and incorporated into the system. This on-network and off-network data gives operators the ability to understand the extent of spam originating from, entering and leaving their networks. MNO participants in the GSMA SRS also share data about new attacks, so that an attack detected on one network can be more quickly prevented on others.
