Costain announced that its joint venture with Vinci Construction Grands Projets been awarded an £86 million contract by Scottish Water to construct the Shieldhall Tunnel in Glasgow. The Shieldhall Tunnel will be Scotland's large waste water tunnel, 4.70m in diameter and 3.1 miles long, and will form part of the biggest upgrade of Glasgow's waste water network in more than a century. It will run between Queen's Park and the Craigton industrial estate, and will resolve water quality and reduce flooding issues at key locations in the area served by the Shieldhall Waste Water Treatment Works. Work will start in October 2014 and completion is anticipated in early 2018.

VINCI Construction Grands Projets announced it will build the Shieldhall tunnel in Glasgow for Scottish Water, the publicly owned water company in Scotland. The structure, the larger wastewater storage tunnel in Scotland, is designed to improve water quality and help cope with the risk of flooding in the city and pollution of the River Clyde. The contract, with a value of EUR 105 million, covers the construction of two shafts with a diameter of 15 metres each and a depth of 20 metres, a 300 metre long cut-and-cover trench and a 5 km tunnel with an internal diameter of 4.70 metres. The technique used will be that of a mud pressure type tunnel boring machine, one of the company's areas of expertise. Work will get under way in October 2014 and completion is anticipated in early 2018.
Entrepose Contracting and VINCI Construction Grands Projets Wins Construction Contract for Four LNG Storage Tanks for Yamal LNG in Russia

Entrepose Contracting and VINCI Construction Grands Projets, both subsidiaries of VINCI, have been awarded a contract with JSC Yamal LNG to perform an engineering, procurement, supply, construction and commissioning of four cryogenic full-containment liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tanks (each composed of a 9% nickel stainless steel interior container and a pre-stressed concrete external container) with a capacity of 160,000 cubic meters each. These tanks will form part of a 16.5 million tons per annum natural gas liquefaction project, which will utilize the resources of the South Tambey Gas Condensate Field situated in the Yamal Peninsula in the Russian Federation. In order to meet the project schedule requirements to make the first 2 tanks available in 2016, the detailed engineering, supply of the first equipment, camps, temporary facilities and piling works in the permafrost were started in June 2013 under a Letter of Award arrangement.
