LyricFind Announces Deal with Universal Music Publishing Group

LyricFind announced deal with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) to be the sole third party able to administer future licenses for lyrics controlled by UMPG (UMPG retains the right to do direct licenses). LyricFind's deal with UMPG. The contract, which is in effect as of May 1, 2014, not only allows LyricFind to search, display, distribute, transmit, and reproduce the lyrics of the roster of songwriters under UMPG's umbrella, it also allows LyricFind to sublicense for display and sync to music sites, services and apps across the internet. UMPG songwriters will receive a share of the revenues generated by LyricFind. LyricFind's deal with UMPG expands its already extensive catalogue, further establishing it as the most complete catalogue of lyrics in the world. LyricFind also created a quality-controlled vetted database of those lyrics available for licensing. Behind the scenes, LyricFind tracks, reports, and pays royalties to those publishers on a song-by-song and territory-by-territory basis. With this deal, LyricFind will now be offering its solutions to clients in 30 significant territories including USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Korea, Russia and India, with additional countries being added soon. Clients of LyricFind include Amazon, Pandora, Shazam, SoundHound, HTC, Nokia, SongMeanings, and LyricsMode, and these global deals will allow such services to hugely increase the catalogue of lyrics that they can showcase for their customers.

Mondo TV Signs Music Rights Deal with Universal Music Publishing

Mondo TV has struck an agreement with Universal Music Publishing for the worldwide management and distribution, excluding Italy, of the rights of the music the Italian company uses in its TV programmes. Under the deal, Mondo TV will have the right to receive part of Universal's royalties.

Universal Music Publishing, YouTube and SACEM Sign Licensing Agreement

Aiming to benefit songwriters and composers in the long run, Frances Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers of Music (SACEM), Universal Music Publishing and YouTube have signed an agreement which establishes terms of use for the music of SACEM's repertoire and UMP's Anglo-American repertoire. The terms of use are applicable in videos distributed by YouTube throughout 127 countries across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. The deal encompasses all types of YouTube videos that feature music, including user-generated content. As per the agreement, it will facilitate greater transparency, coordination and data-sharing between the organizations while also ensuring equitable compensation for rights holders who are entitled to a share of the platforms revenues. The agreement has been entered into by SACEM and UMP's Direct European Administration and Licensing (DEAL) initiative, which works to create a unique and comprehensive platform of joint technical and operational resources for multi-territorial music licensing across all forms of media, which includes this deal with YouTube. The music of UMPs songwriters and composers, who are affiliated with other European collecting societies, will remain subject to licensing arrangements made by those societies.
