Mondo TV has struck an agreement with Universal Music Publishing for the worldwide management and distribution, excluding Italy, of the rights of the music the Italian company uses in its TV programmes. Under the deal, Mondo TV will have the right to receive part of Universal's royalties.

As per the agreement, it will facilitate greater transparency, coordination and data-sharing between the organizations while also ensuring equitable compensation for rights holders who are entitled to a share of the platforms revenues. The agreement has been entered into by SACEM and UMP's Direct European Administration and Licensing (DEAL) initiative, which works to create a unique and comprehensive platform of joint technical and operational resources for multi-territorial music licensing across all forms of media, which includes this deal with YouTube. The music of UMPs songwriters and composers, who are affiliated with other European collecting societies, will remain subject to licensing arrangements made by those societies.

Universal Music Publishing Group has appointed John Echevarria as the executive vice-president of Latin America. Echevarria will replace Eddie Fernandez. In his new role, Echevarria will head the company's Latin America creative teams along with its Latin division in the US. He will be based at UMPGs Miami office. Earlier, Echevarria has served as Latin America EVP operations for Universal Music Group International and acting president of the UMGI Andean region. Prior to joining Universal Music, Echevarria worked at Sony/ATV for eight years, heading their publishing operations for Latin America.
