Joost Hiltermann has been named as chief operating officer of International Crisis Group (The). As the number two executive for the independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization, Hiltermann is responsible for the oversight and management of its programs and operations around the world. He also leads the organization's strategic planning process. At University of California - Santa Cruz, Hiltermann worked with professors Paul Lubeck and Wally Goldfrank in sociology, and Terry Burke in history.
