National Governors Association Announces New Committee Leadership

The National Governors Association (NGA) announced the new leadership of NGA's five standing committees for the 2013-2014 year. NGA Chair Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin and NGA Vice Chair Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper made the following appointments: Economic Development and Commerce Committee: Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley, chair; West Virgina Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, vice chair; Education and Workforce Committee: Kentucky Gov. Steven Beshear, chair; Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval, vice chair; Health and Human Services Committee: Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, chair; Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin, vice chair; Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee: Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, chair; Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, vice chair; Natural Resources Committee: North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple, chair; Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy, vice chair.

The National Governors Association Announces Executive Changes

The National Governors Association announced the new leadership of its Executive Committee for the year 2013-2014. The new NGA Chair Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin and NGA Vice Chair Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper will lead the nine-member Executive Committee through which the association's priorities and activities are determined. Other members include: Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe, Delaware Gov. Jack Markell, Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton, Montana Gov. Steve Bullock, Utah Gov. Gary Herbert, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.

National Governors Association Appoints Frederick Isasi, J.D, M.P.H., as Director of Center for Best Practices Health Division

The National Governors Association appointed Frederick Isasi, J.D, M.P.H., as director of Center for Best Practices Health Division. Isasi will oversee all work related to health care service delivery and reform, Medicaid cost containment, state employee and retiree health benefits, maternal and child health, prescription drug abuse prevention and health insurance exchange planning. Isasi currently serves as the vice president of health policy at The Advisory Board Company, where he served as a strategic advisor to hospitals, health systems and provider companies throughout the nation and internationally.
