James T. Morris, chairman and chief executive officer of Pacific Life Insurance Co. has been elected as the American Council Of Life Insurers' 2013 chairman of the board of directors during the industry group's annual conference in Washington, D.C. Morris will serve as the ACLI's chairman of the board for one year. The chairman and the board set policy and guide the actions of the ACLI, which represents the life insurance industry in Washington, D.C., the U.S. states and internationally. The ACLI also elected John D. Johns, chairman, president and CEO of Protective Life Corp. as chairman-elect Johns will assume the chairmanship in October 2013. Roger W. Crandall, chairman, president and CEO of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co., was awarded the chairman-elect designate post. Crandall will take over as ACLI chairman in October 2014. Ted Mathas, chairman, president and CEO of New York Life Insurance Co., will serve as immediate past chairman of the ACLI in the coming year.

Jessica Hanson has been hired as vice president of communications at the American Council of Life Insurers. She was senior director at the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America. She also has worked as its director of federal and international public affairs and as manager of state public affairs.
