Ecrio Announces Nimbus, Cloud Based Solution for VoLTE & RCS

Ecrio announced that it will be demonstrating at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona its innovative cloud based solution that connects tablets and M2M endpoints requiring voice and video services over LTE networks being deployed globally. The Nimbus solution is a cloud based version of Ecrio's patented and proven FlexIMS(TM) Architecture that has already been deployed in millions of devices. It provides in the cloud all the necessary features and functions of embedded software User Agents (UA) and connects to the Operators' existing LTE networks as a virtualized UA that can be spawned rapidly and efficiently. The Nimbus solution works with standard WebRTC end points to allow them to interoperate with GSMA compliant IR.92 VoLTE, IR.94 Video and RCS in LTE enabled phones. Additionally, Ecrio offers a Thin Client with RCS capabilities to enhance the features and functionality. In M2M applications that require voice, video and messaging, Nimbus provides a VoLTE & RCS service layer that simplifies and reduces cost of connecting various end points to the Operator networks.

Ecrio Inc. and GCT Semiconductor Inc. Extend their Partnership to Integrate Ecrio FlexIMS Based VoLTE on GCT's 4G LTE Chipsets

Ecrio Inc. and GCT Semiconductor Inc. extend their partnership to integrate Ecrio FlexIMS based VoLTE on GCT's 4G LTE Chipsets. GCT's LTE solution, GDM7243, combines RF and baseband to offer a highly integrated chip, optimized to ensure high performance and lower power consumption to increase battery life. GCT's chip delivers embedded VoLTE for devices such as smartphones, allowing ODMs to rapidly accelerate their VoLTE rollout. Ecrio FlexIMS technology allows for the broadest coverage of real time communication end points (including smartphones, smartTVs, computers, CPE). It was designed to enable IMS services functions to be distributed between the modem processor and application/network processors. RCS or video calling functions can be incrementally integrated on an application or network processor to add to VoLTE functionality implemented in the Modem Processor.

Renesas Mobile Corporation Completes LTE Chipset Integration with Ecrio's FlexIMS based VoLTE Software

Renesas Mobile Corporation announced the completion of the integration of the Voice over LTE capabilities for Renesas Mobile's communication processor and slim modem platforms for LTE smart phones. Ecrio's FlexIMS based VoLTE Client Software is now integrated and optimised in the MP5232 and SP2532 multi-mode LTE platforms paving the way for the broad supply of VoLTE Services based on the 3GPP IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). Renesas Mobile combined the FlexIMS based SMS and VoLTE software with its own technology to meet the GSMA IR.92 requirements for efficient usage of LTE radio resources through techniques such as header compression and voice specific scheduling plus ensuring conversational Quality of Service over both TD-LTE and FDD-LTE. Full inter-system handovers are also supported. Renesas Mobile will be demonstrating VoLTE capabilities on the MP5232 platform at Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona on both TD-LTE and FDD-LTE systems. Further details of the embedded solution were recently published in the February 2013 edition of Mobile Europe and Renesas Mobile has written a whitepaper about VoLTE power consumption. Based on the FlexIMS Architecture, Ecrio's Mobile Communications Client Suite is a unique solution that incrementally enables VoLTE, Video Calling and Rich Communication Suite services to be implemented with the flexibility to distribute functionality across processors. This architecture enables low power consumption in both LTE and 3G modes, as well as the low latencies for all the related IMS services.
