Webroot Inc. Key Developments

Webroot Announces Expansion of its BrightCloud Security Services for Enterprise

Webroot announced expansion of its BrightCloud(R) Security Services for Enterprise, a new portfolio of services which makes company's threat intelligence available to enterprises through integration with popular network security and management platforms. The first services within this portfolio, BrightCloud for Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) and BrightCloud for Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), support integration with security solutions from Palo Alto Networks(R) and Splunk(R). The explosion in both volume and sophistication of web-based attacks has challenged organizations to keep up. Enterprises struggle to maintain current intelligence and determine which security events actually threaten their environment. With big data analytics and automated machine learning from Webroot, enterprises can augment the threat data in their existing network appliances and security management solutions with highly accurate and customized intelligence to gain earlier and more complete insight into potential web-based threats. Unlike most other threat intelligence solutions, BrightCloud Security Services collect and analyzes threat intelligence across multiple vectors-IP, URL, File and Application-from a massive network of nearly 35 million users protected by Webroot endpoint security solutions and by Webroot technology partners, such as Palo Alto Networks, Cisco, SourceFire, F5, RSA, Aruba Networks, and Microsoft, who have embedded BrightCloud threat intelligence in their security solutions. Webroot correlates this data using the Webroot(R) Intelligence Network, an innovative cloud-based security analytics platform, to provide actionable real-time threat intelligence with higher accuracy and fewer false positives than other threat intelligence solutions. Next Generation Threat Intelligence Offerings for PAN and Splunk: As the first two offerings of BrightCloud Security Services for Enterprise, Webroot has introduced solutions for the Palo Alto Networks (PAN) and Splunk platforms. BrightCloud IP Reputation for Palo Alto Networks enables enterprises to enhance the effectiveness of their PAN next generation firewall appliances by integrating highly-accurate IP reputation data with their PAN firewall to block malicious incoming IPs. The BrightCloud for NGFW service also analyzes inbound IP addresses from the PAN appliance and tailors the threat intelligence it delivers to include IPs that represent a higher probability of a future attack. BrightCloud IP Reputation Service for Splunk enables enterprises to correlate their network traffic and IP reputation data in their Splunk environment to facilitate early detection of IP related attacks. This enhances the enterprise's investment in their SIEM solution by providing threat intelligence on a global scale, and helps identify and remediate potential security issues before they lead to breaches.

Webroot and Plantronics Join Forces to Help Fight Viruses, Hackers and Cybercrime in the Gaming World

Webroot announced a strategic partnership with Plantronics. This agreement will see Webroot SecureAnywhere(R) AntiVirus for PC Gamers bundled with the Plantronics GameCom 788 Gaming Headset to ensure PC gamers are protected with real-time security that doesn't impact performance as they enjoy gameplay in stunning, cinematic sound. By partnering with Webroot, Plantronics now provides highly-effective, cloud-based threat detection from Webroot that is dramatically lighter and faster than competing products. Gamers won't be interrupted by screen freezes, game lag or system crashes from traditional slow scans and security updates.

Webroot Announces Global Site Manager for Managed Service Providers

Webroot announced the release of Webroot SecureAnywhere Global Site Manager, an advanced cloud-based management console for use with its SecureAnywhere Business- Endpoint Protection solution. The new management tool was developed as a no-cost alternative to the Webroot standard console to enable customers such as managed services providers (MSPs) to administer more complex SecureAnywhere deployments more efficiently. The complexity of simultaneously monitoring and managing security of multiple customers or business sites from a central security operations center can increase time and costs, which can lead to lost margins and poor service levels. The new console provides MSPs a hierarchical view of the endpoints under their protection, allowing them to go from a global view of their customers and drill down to group and individual user views. This more efficient and structured way of managing complex multi-customer deployments enables MSPs to view in real-time how many devices are deployed by each customer or whether any endpoints need attention. Global Site Manager is also highly scalable, allowing hundreds of customers and thousands of endpoints to be managed via a single console and yet enables MSPs to immediately identify security incidents that may be impacting one or several of their customers. The new console includes sophisticated threat alerting, reporting and auto-remediation capabilities, which ensure malware is identified and removed before it impacts customers.
