Marc Derks to Exit as Regional Sales Director of Axon Digital Design, Effective on December 1, 2014

Marc Derks, Regional Sales Director at Axon Digital Design will exit Axon on December 1, 2014. Derks is a familiar face in the MENA region's broadcast industry and has played a key role in establishing Axon as a reputable manufacturer in the Middle East for the past several years.

Axon Launches Cerebrum Monitoring and Control Software At NAB2014

Axon Digital Design will launch its Cerebrum monitoring and control software at this year's NAB (booth N4606). Where software normally is either specialized for use for control or for monitoring of broadcast devices Cerebrum combines both applications. Flexibility is essential in today’s broadcast environment. Cerebrum delivers the customizable control and monitoring interface for a wide range of devices from different manufacturers - including routers, production switchers, servers, receiver decoders, multiviewers and waveform monitors - using either SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) or third party protocols. At NAB Axon will launch the loudness monitoring and logging option for the compliance recording /video air check product line TRACS. Driven by Emsytech Hummingbird Loudness Meters, all audio (up to 8 stereo pairs) is measured for Momentary Loudness (400ms), Short-term Loudness (3s) and Integrated Loudness (Loudness measured over the last hour continuously). During live play or playback of the recorded content, the Momentary, Short term and Integrated measurements are shown in audio bars, in sync with the video. The course of the loudness levels during a user defined period of time can be shown in a loudness history graph which can be exported to .pdf or .csv files.

Axon Launches Neuron

Axon announced that the company will launch Neuron - the industry’s first video product based on AVB (Audio Video Bridging) technology. As well as integrating AVB, an open standard based on IEEE802.1, Neuron will help broadcasters create a live end-to-end audio and video production system with monitoring, management and protection. Neuron features both hardware and software and offers significant cost savings, reliability, increased flexibility for instant network access and multi-switching between live content such as a football game or game show. Live demos will take place on Axon’s stand (B21, hall 10). Audio and video (AV) equipment connections have historically been one-way, single-purpose and point-to-point. As a result, the industry faces challenges to remove the inherent bandwidth, speed and the set-up problems of SDI-based infrastructures. With a move to an AVB-based network, all audio and video streams - as well as associated control, metadata and synchronisation for live productions - will be available on one single connection. Neuron provides broadcasters with managed networking functionalities, the ability to provide uncompressed video delivery across live production infrastructures, as well as compatibility with new standards such as 4K and existing formats.
