The TCW Group, Inc. intends to acquire one more alternative vehicle in 2013, after having acquired Craton Equity Partners. Jess Ravich, Group Managing Director and head of alternative products at TCW said that it aims to acquire one more alternative vehicle this year, and continue to acquire four or five alternative vehicles annually for the "foreseeable future".

The TCW Group, Inc. announced the appointment of Joseph Carieri as head of U.S. institutional distribution and marketing. Carieri will be responsible for all marketing activities and initiatives related to the institutional investor community and will report directly to TCW President and CEO David Lippman. Carieri will take over marketing responsibilities from Chris Scibelli, formerly a founding partner of MetWest and a managing director at TCW, who is leaving the firm to pursue other opportunities. Carieri brings a wealth of experience to TCW from Western Asset Management Company (WAMCO) where he served as a Senior Client Service Executive for 18 years and was responsible for the Public Fund and Taft Hartley markets. Prior to WAMCO, Carieri was the Senior Investment Officer for the Los Angeles County Employee Retirement Association (LACERA). Carieri also served as Co-Head of High Yield Bond Trading before that at Fidelity Investments.
TCW Expands International Distribution, Opens Offices in Paris, Hong Kong

The TCW Group announced the expansion of its distribution efforts in Europe and Asia, with the opening of new TCW offices in Paris and Hong Kong staffed by industry veterans familiar with those regions. The announcement follows the Feb. 6 completion of the acquisition of TCW from Société Générale by TCW management and The Carlyle Group. The Paris office is overseen by Heinrich Riehl, a TCW Managing Director and Head of TCW Europe. In Hong Kong, the office is overseen by Stacy Hsu, a TCW Managing Director and Head of TCW Asia.
